
2004.11.01 V0.9589 Release 9 (up-to-date list on know issues is at jasluser)
- Completely reworked GUI! This GUI has evolved in parallel for about 18 months and will be able to cope with all actions required. The old GUI would
have been unwieldly when adding vehicle actions. The new GUI lists most of the actions possible. All earlier windows have been unified into one
window so players who only want one window are now happy (but see next point). Nota Bene: all actions are not yet available.
- Extra event log panel. Player can use the event log in the tab frame or the separate window. Some wants to be clicking back and forth between
panels in the same window to see the event log. Other want to have in two different windows. Both are now possible with JASL.
- The "map" in the tabbed pane now has a sidebar with the actions that are possible. One general tab ("do") and two specific ones: one for infantry and
one for vehicles. The general actions are also available in the menu "actions".
- Actions not programmed pops a dialogue. This probably needs an improvement to stop the player from using that action in the first play.
- Preferences has some new items (hex selector of crosshair type).
- A new phase initially, the "Setup Phase" (SPh). Allows Deployment and repositioning of units (no check yet on legality yet).
- No "empty" phases to click through. Earlier the human player always to click through the phases even when no action possible by the computer, for
example as the Defender in PFPh. This is now gone.
- Table of Organisation & Equipment tab ("TOE" in next to the game map) has been filled with functionality. This views the stacks belonging to the
human player and displays each unit / SW with status (Pin, DM, etc.) as well as if the current phase has been done for that unit (N.B. not perfect yet
but is is comming). Green dot before unit -> phase not done, Orange dot -> phase started (moving, routing, etc) and red dot -> phase done.
- Appearance of the scenario card improved. Content filled in from selected scenario. Image is a default image for now.
- "Center Map" button in the Explosion view window is now working and causes the main map to be centered on the Building in question.
- Transfer of SW between units.
- Recombine of Halfsquads added to RPh.
- Hide counters button added to new GUI.
- Attacks & other action dice rolls made now logs the modifiers applied in greater detail.
- Statusbar is updated.
- Opens Event Log Window when for new scenario automatically.
- LOS Measure option added to Tools menue.
- Menu: save Unit game positions as text or HTML added.
- Menu: Print added (to be finished; just prints first page for now).
- Menu: Show Help added.

- Broken units are eliminated at end of RtPh if ADJACENT to KEU (still can rout there though; on the todo list).
- Broken units drops to heavy SW and surplus SW at start of Rout or Low Crawl.
- CCPh can not be ended before all CC's and Melee's have been resolved.
- CloseCombat has seen major overhaul and now longer hangs or allows for illegal attacks (e.g. multiple attacks by same unit). It also uses some of
the modifiers and also check for Ambush. If ambush is possible it is resolved first and the CC is then resolved sequntially if required. SMC's are
grouped with the best MMC. CC attacks at less than 1:8 odds are resolved at 1:8. Berserker loses Zerk status if eliminating unit in CC.
- DM for units can be dropped if player wants.
- Fanatic status now displayed.
- Hero DRM added to IFT attacks.
- Possible to select targets on upper levels when several levels occupied.
- SW can keep ROF.
- Unit being rallied by Commissar ignores DM and gains one morale.
