KGP2 CG II

Frank arrived Saturday morning, and we immediately dived into KGP CG II with me as the Germans. It went rather well for both sides [EXC: the last date when I wasted my own heroic 9-1 _and_ a Panther in an attempt to CC a 10-3. ASM = A Stupid Move]. Frank did lots of footwork with dummies and finally took that one building and won the scenario after about 14 hours playing.

Then came the night scenario, which is a very cool scenario that allows for dual-attack and lots of fog-of-war. The US only took three more buildings, unfourtunately two of them are those close to the bridge between the illages. After a largely ineffective Bombardment (KIA 658 x1), a breakthrough along my right flank was stopped by a 9-1, 658/HMG in a Foxhole. They were supported by a minefield and a SdKfz 6/2 and a Flak LKW. Opposing them was a horde of 747s (+ MGs). When 747 finally managed to enter the Foxhole hex for some serious CC it decided to attack an escaping broken crew (rolling 6,6) and was eliminated in turn by the a DR 1,1 (welcome to a new 8-0!). Thereafter that area was crowded with disrupted HS and other casualties so I decided to play my wildcard: 120mm OBA. And it actually came down, clearing up that area effectively. The front across Brutets house was held by a 10-2, 658/HMG, 658/LMG who simply stopped anyone daring to come close. On the next to last player turn this stack went wild with a ROF 8 for the HMG and a ROF _5_ for the LMG when firing together. Still a US win. This was very exiting, lasting all of 18 hours of continous play.
